What is Afrika Experience?
Afrika Experience is an independent travel studio that designs bespoke luxury African safaris and private journeys. Based in Austin, Texas and Nairobi, the studio was founded by Kinuthia Njenga and has crafted custom African expeditions since 2004. We specialize in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Zambia — with private vehicles, master guides, and exclusive lodge and conservancy access.

Which destinations do you cover?
Our core destinations are Kenya (Maasai Mara, Laikipia, Lewa, coast), Tanzania (Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar), Rwanda (mountain gorillas and volcano lodges), and Zambia (Victoria Falls, Lower Zambezi, South Luangwa). Every itinerary is built for the traveler, not from a template.
How does the booking process work?
We work in four stages: Discovery (a private phone or video conversation where we listen first), Design (your Destination Specialist drafts a bespoke itinerary), Refinement (we fine-tune lodges, pace, and details together), and Departure (charters, guides, and logistics handled end-to-end). How much does a luxury safari with Afrika Experience cost?
Sample featured journeys start from about $12,000 per person for a 10-day Kenya Migration & Coast itinerary, $13,000 for Tanzania Serengeti & Zanzibar, and $14,000 for active or Rwanda gorilla programmes. Final pricing depends on season, lodge tier, party size, and private aviation. We quote after understanding what you want — not before listening.
How is Afrika Experience different from online travel agencies or big tour operators?
We are a design studio, not a mass-market operator. You get private conversation-first planning, relationships with guides and conservancies built over decades, exclusive-use options, and 24/7 ground support. There are no one-size-fits-all packages as the primary product — every journey is authored for you.

Who is Kinuthia Njenga?
Kinuthia Njenga is the Founder & CXO of Afrika Experience. He led his first three-week Kenya expedition for friends in 2004 and has spent more than twenty years designing custom African journeys that emphasize culture, wilderness, and absolute care.
What is 2Step Safari?
2Step Safari is Afrika Experience’s group tour brand for Texas Country Goes on Safari 2026 — a 13-day Kenya adventure (September 23 – October 5, 2026) combining Samburu and Maasai Mara safari with live Fingerpistol concerts, from $4,995. What is Twende Home?
Twende Home is Afrika Experience’s ambassador program for Kenyans in the United States who want to share Kenya with their American community, host group travel, and earn side income while we handle ground operations. Do you offer private family or multi-generational safaris?
Yes. Our Private Estates & Multi-Generational Travel experience focuses on exclusive lodge buyouts, sole-use vehicles, connecting suites, and a bespoke pace so grandparents, parents, and children each have their own rhythm without shared dining or shared drives unless they want them.
Can you design a bush-and-beach itinerary?
Yes. Bush & Beach Escapes pair a private safari in the Mara or Serengeti with coastal luxury in Lamu or Zanzibar — private villas, personal chef options, and charter connections between bush and coast.
